Accessibility at LexPrideFest

The Lexington Pride Festival Planning Committee encourages people with disabilities to participate in this community event. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation or have questions about the physical access provided, please call 859-253-3233 or email in advance of the Festival. Following is information on the accessibility of the Festival:

The Lexington Pride Festival is held at the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza at the corner of Main Street and North Limestone. There is no gated or designated entrance to the area. The Festival is held outside on the plaza and the terrain is a combination of flat to gently sloping lawn and concrete and paved areas. There are a few areas with steps but the majority of the festival is accessible on one level with no stairs.

Accessible Viewing Area
A viewing area will be provided at the main stage for guests who are in wheelchairs or who cannot stand for long periods. A permit will be needed to access this seating area and can be acquired at the information booth which will be located behind the Pride merchandise tent. Guests may contact the nearest festival staff member in bright green shirts for exact location.

Sign Language
The festival provides a sign language interpreter at the main stage.

First Aid
The First Aid location is noted on the festival map. Lexington Fire Department and EMS are providing first aid at the festival and will have an ambulance on site in case of emergency. Professional medical staff will assist guests with any medical issues that arise. Festival staff will be guiding patrons to First Aid if a medical emergency arises.

There is no designated festival parking. The closest parking to the festival is at the Courthouse Garage at 105 Barr Street, which has 10 accessible parking spots. The Public Library Parking Garage on Main Street also has 10 accessible parking spots and is near the festival. There are accessible parking spots on Main Street between Martin Luther King and Limestone and on Limestone between Water and Main Streets. At the venue, there will be wheelchair accessible, gender neutral, portable toilets on Short Street which will be indicated on the festival map. In addition, there are wheelchair accessible indoor toilets at the Lexington Public Library which is across the street from the festival and open from 9 am to 5 pm.

Service Animals/Pets
Service animals and pets are welcome at Lexington Pride Fest.

Heat Respite
To provide respite from the heat, Lexington Pride Festival will provide a cooling station behind the Pride Festival merchandise tent. The cooling station will provide a seating area underneath a canopy to provide shade and will have water available for guests and their pets. A misting tent that is marked on the festival map will also be available. In addition sprinklers will be provided in the Kid’s Activity area. Vendors throughout the festival will provide free water. There will also be a seated area covered by a tent for shade near the food vendors to provide a dining space.

Designated Smoking Area

Smoking at the festival will be limited to a designated smoking area.

Accessibility Support

Volunteers at the information booth located behind the Pride merchandise tent will be available to provide assistance with accessibility needs. In addition, festival staff who will be wearing bright green staff shirts are available to assist with accessibility needs.
